ABOUT KIDS OF GRACE ACADEMY

OUR PURPOSE

Kids of Grace Academy is a K-9 hybrid school that offers a unique educational model that blends the benefits of on-site learning with at-home education. This thoughtfully designed approach combines the best elements of homeschooling and private schooling within a supportive community. Beginning with a strong foundation in the early years, our program builds towards fostering critical thinking and intellectual growth as students progress through their academic journey.

Students attend in-person classes three days a week at our Lake Oswego campus while continuing school for the remaining two days at home, providing flexibility and balance in their education.

OUR MISSION

  • Equip students with a firm understanding of God and His Creation by striving for academic excellence and biblical literacy, ensuring they graduate with a well-rounded education.

  • Develop strong moral character by teaching values rooted in faith, integrity, and responsibility.

  • Inspire a deep, lasting love for Christ and His Word, guiding students to make their faith an integral part of their lives.

  • Support Christian families by partnering in the task of embedding a biblical worldview throughout their children's education.

  • Provide a distinct alternative to traditional public and private schooling, offering a Christ-centered, hybrid educational experience that nurtures both intellectual and spiritual growth.

  • Ensure strong communication skills by giving students the tools to communicate thoughtfully and clearly, both verbally and in writing.

  • Prepare students for future opportunities—whether academic, vocational, or personal—equipping them to glorify God in all that they do.

Kids of Grace Academy prepares students to thrive in their academic and spiritual lives, as they develop into responsible, thoughtful, and faith-driven individuals.

OUR VALUES

Kids of Grace Academy is dedicated to coming alongside and partnering with Christian families who seek a distinctly Christian education. Academic excellence is a key priority as we aim to nurture students in wisdom, maturity, and a deep love for Jesus and others. The authority and sufficiency of the Bible is the foundation for our educational model and curriculum. We affirm the Lordship of Jesus Christ and proclaim the Gospel's transformative power in everything we do so that the families and students we serve may be equipped to live for God's glory.

Methods of Education

It’s all about Jesus

Jesus is the most important part of everything. We want to teach students to follow Jesus in everything they do. Life doesn’t begin afterschool, students are trained now for life, college, and work, and are taught strong Christian values. As the Creator of all things, it is futile to study science, math, or logic without knowing the inventor. Education without Jesus is a Kingdom without a King.

The University Model

This program blends classroom and home learning, with students spending 2-3 days in school and 2-3 days in a "satellite classroom" (their home). Both “classrooms” are academically monitored by a teacher. Parents play a key role by working closely with teachers to support their children's learning, overseeing schoolwork at home, and providing additional help like tutoring and study activities.

The Tools of Learning

While we do not strictly adhere to one specific method of education (i.e. classical, traditional, etc), we strive to blend the best of all camps. We want to give students the tools to learn how to think, not simply pass tests. Our aim is to cultivate the development of critical thinking, rhetorical skills, and a strong Christian worldview as well as excellence in mathematics and the sciences. Please see our curriculum page for more information.

Elementary School

Elementary school includes Kindergarten through 6th Grade. The age criteria or Kindergarten is if they turn 6 by Labor Day of the current school year. We want education to be fun and desirable for the youngest of learner. At this level students will be encouraged to explore the world that God has created and history that has gone before us, memorize facts and scripture, and learn to love to read good books and pursue wisdom. KOGA will offer state testing through, and will partner with families on the implementation.

Middle School

Middle school includes 7th and 8th grades, and official records like transcripts and grades are not maintained until 9th grade. A student is considered to be in 9th grade if they turn 15 by Labor Day of the current school year. The goal is to avoid letting grades limit students' growth. While students will typically remain with their developmental peers in most classes, they may take higher-level subjects, such as advanced math, based on their demonstrated competency. At the Middle School level there will be an emphasis for students to engage in structured reasoning, learning to analyze arguments, recognize fallacies, and understand cause and effect.

High School

High School consists of 9th Grade for year one. We plan to expand high school slowly as each year adding a grade. Standards for graduation will be kept per the state requirement. For high school students, the academic schedule is even more like a college environment. Dual enrollment is available upon enrollment, availability, and class selection. We will be partnering with an accredited Christian University for credits. There will be additional fees for dual enrollment courses. While college may be a goal for some, we know it is not the path for every student. We want all of our students to have the tools they need to express ideas persuasively, learning to write and speak effectively, and defend their faith.

It is the conviction of Kids of Grace that the beliefs detailed in the doctrinal statement are faithful representations of the Bible’s teaching on these matters. Parents and students must agree to support Kids of Grace in teaching in accordance with the doctrinal statement. For all students, their teaching parent must be a member (or the equivalent) of an evangelical, bible-believing church.
